BEFORE JEST

There was a time at which I could only imagine sculping with light and sound, then I slowly learned learned how.

That may sound cheesy as all getout, but it serves as the best way to separate my early artistic development – at which time I authored work as Jahoosawa – from what I consider my early professional work. Before I began working with projectors and digital media I worked with the more accessible mediums of paint and pencils.

While over time the media of my works have expanded, many of the early themes have persisted, including explorations of boundary and frame, duality, digitalization, cross-media artifacts, and scale.

FOR THE REST

Generally, in the art and design word, less is more. A succinct, curated website is better for attracting clients and soliciting galleries. But this website is not just about attracting new business. It is a living document where I can freely record the disparate inspirational elements that get folded into practice, for myself, but also for others who care enough to scroll.

Many of the artists and creatives that I looked up to as a young artist obscured their personal history, and the process behind their works. I have chosen to include these early works, against the general counsel of people in the art world whos opinions I value greatly, to illuminate the path I have taken, from start to… recently.

I hope that some find it underwhelming, even inspiring.
